Preface

The Church of the Nazarene in Canada and the United States is entering into its fourth consecutive year praying for a move of God in one of the heart cries of the Cycle of Resurgence. The Spirit inspired these heart cries through both our clergy and laity alike. One of the biblical passages referenced frequently at the beginning of our vision-casting initiative was Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” God is indeed doing a new thing in the Church of the Nazarene. We have seen God’s blessings and renewal through the initiatives Bless-ing Our Community and Bringing People to Jesus. These two initiatives go hand in hand—serving those in our community leads to sharing the gospel and the hope we all have in Christ.

The year 2026 is a year to focus on becoming Christlike disciples. This emphasis is to live into the Church of the Nazarene’s theological distinctive for holiness and entire sanctification. Pursuing holiness is both how we prepare ourselves to be a blessing in our communities and how we respond to our salvation and grow in our Christlikeness. Blessing, bringing, and becoming are all parts of our calling into holiness.

William Greathouse wrote, “The message of holiness remains for me the essence of the gospel—God’s pure love reigning in the heart and excluding sin. This experience is both the command of the law and the promise of the gospel.”

Starting Easter 2026 and running through Pentecost 2026, the initiative for prayer will be Becoming Christlike Disciples. Will you pray with your brothers and sisters in Christ for God to move powerfully in the lives of his followers?
