2 Corinthians 5:20
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
Scripture Insights
A path to reconciliation with God has been created through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ’s followers have been tasked with bringing the message of God’s love and redemption to the world as his ambassadors. What a gift! What an opportunity! God could have chosen any way he would like to deliver this message of hope, yet he chooses us. God desires his followers to be the physical presence and representation of Christ in our world.
When people encounter us, whom do they see? Do they see us, or do they see Christ through us? If we are to represent Christ in our world and faithfully deliver this message of hope and reconciliation, he must increase, and we must decrease. Serving as an ambassador for Christ requires daily surrender and a commitment to conforming our lives to his. As we humbly and sacrificially place ourselves before God, his Holy Spirit transforms us, sanctifies us, and empowers us to serve as the visible presence of Christ in our world.
Today’s Prayer
God, we submit our lives to you. Transform us into your image so that, as we serve as your ambassadors in this world, those around us will see more and more of you and less of us.
