Romans 15:4

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Scripture Insights

It is Scripture that gives us the encouragement to press on for the upward call of God.

How important it is to read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and rightly divide the Word of truth. The Scriptures were written so that we might have hope in trials, temptations, difficulties, and dangers. But we are to patiently endure in the knowledge that Christ died and rose again so that we could be a new creation.

Whether we read about Daniel, Elijah, Peter, or Paul, we can add our names to the new-creation list by the grace of God as we walk with him. None of us are worthy, but we should all be thankful for what God has done.

It is that resurrection power given to us by the empty tomb written about in Scripture that reminds us that we have a living hope founded on nothing less than Jesus Christ and his perfect righteousness. Praise his holy name!

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise and thank you for the Word of God and the wonderful truths it contains. Help me to live in this fallen world with patient endurance as I look to Jesus and the glorious hope I have in him.
