2 Thessalonians 3:1

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.

Scripture Insights

How often do we pray for the gospel to be spread? I confess that hearing Jesus talking about things like leaving the ninety-nine to search for the one has always seemed like a great idea every time I’ve heard or read it. Yet my prayers did not shift and become fervent until “the one” was one of my own. Then, I wanted my one to know the hope that continues to transform me.

“Just as it was with you” in today’s scripture compels me to pray for the one—anybody’s and everybody’s one. My heart is moved to pray for those around me so that one day they too will be able to testify “just as it was with me.”

Just as Paul asked the Thessalonians to pray for the message of the Lord to spread, we too have been invited to pray for the Lord’s kingdom to be made new in the families, towns, and communities around us. This simple act of prayer aligns our hearts with the very things that matter to God.

Today’s Prayer

God of all truth, spread your message rapidly in my city. Move my own heart to see you work in those around me. May your word be lifted up and honored. Advance your kingdom today.
