Proverbs 15:30

Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

Scripture Insights

We all have a “fake-o-meter,” filtering out insincerity in others, and preventing ourselves from getting scammed. This detector reads people through their eyes, which speak of the sincerity of who we are.

Today’s proverb calls us to reflect the reality of our experiences with Jesus if we are going to be salvation ambassadors. Conversion is not the result of a sales gimmick. A quickening occurs when we see the joy, truth, and life change in the one sharing. The gospel changes us down to the bones!

If folks are going to experience the life-changing Christ, he begins in us. They will recognize they are not a salesperson’s tally but the recipient of the Bread of Life verified in our lives, seeing him in our eyes. Jesus changes even the countenance of our eyes.

Everyone needs Jesus. He is the Light of our world before he can genuinely be shared, enlivening others. Look yourself in the eye. Hopefully you see Jesus. If you don’t, you know where to find him. You may be your first convert.

Today’s Prayer

Light of the world, shine in us, brightening every corner of our lives so that Jesus may radiate through our very being. May our lives and our words be affirmed by the reality of your presence, vitally real and alive in us.
