Acts 16:10
After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
Scripture Insights
After Paul saw the vision, they left! So that’s all I need, right? As soon as I grasp a grand, bold vision, I’ll be ready to go, right? Because that’s what a vision is— something so big that you can’t do it unless God intervenes! Right?
No, but also yes.
Paul received a vision of . . . one. A single man from Macedonia, crying out for help. Paul didn’t see masses saved or cities come to repentance. Just one man—all it took was one.
The truth is that Paul couldn’t have made a difference in the life of the one if it weren’t for the power of God in his life. We know we don’t have the power to move the masses, but we need to be equally aware that we alone do not have the ability to transform even one person. We need God for all of it. To make a difference in the life of one is a pretty big deal.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, show us the person you are calling each of us to on your behalf. Do not allow us to overlook the one. As we are sent, make us increasingly aware of our dependence upon you.
