Psalm 105:1

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

Scripture Insights

How does gratitude come to us? Sometimes in a rush, like a wave knocking us off our feet.

And sometimes it comes softly, not with a fanfare of surging emotions but quietly, like a steady current. But we aren’t fooled by the quiet, for below the
surface, the current runs deep.

So run the gratitude and praise of this thanksgiving psalm. It is not an unleashed flood of gratitude, that deluge of joy-laden adrenaline, as of David delivered from the hand of his enemies. Rather, this is a gratitude steeped in a story that spans centuries, the salvation story of a community that has been birthed by the love of God and delivered by God’s hand.

This is our story too. In Christ, we have been caught up alongside the cloud of witnesses and swept into the pulsing current of God’s deliverance. We share in this declaration of praise and cannot help but raise our voices for the world to hear, “Our God saves! Let me tell the story of what God has done. Come! Be swept into the waters of redemption.”

Today’s Prayer

Almighty God, our hearts cannot contain our gratitude for all you have done, both throughout history and in our lives. May we trust you fully, love you deeply, and join in your redemptive work in the world through our embodied witness.
