As a young adult, I prayed—no, desperately begged—for God to reveal his will for my life. I earnestly wanted to follow God’s path, but God had not rolled out his long-range plan before me! Eventually, I experienced peace as God helped me understand that he was not hiding his will from me. It was not my job to know the plan! It was my job to trust that when the time was right, God would reveal the next step I should take. God assured me that I was doing the right thing by seeking his guidance and listening for his voice, and he promised me that he would speak loud enough for me to hear him when it was time.
As God shapes us to be more like Christ, he calls us to trust him as we navigate the uncharted paths of life. When we look back, we will see that God has always been faithful, that he has always guided. When he spoke, we heard his voice, just as he promised.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, help us not to be anxious about the unknown path ahead. Help us to listen for your voice and to rest as we trust you. Thank you for speaking loudly so that we will hear you when the time is right.
