Scripture Insights
I have had dreams of living in a part of the world that experiences the same weather all year long. I have envisioned playing golf for twelve months of the year. It could be an occupational hazard. In theory, I love the idea of southern California, but I also know I would miss my sweatshirts in the fall, my snow in the winter, and the emerging green grass as we move into spring. I like change!
One of my favorite parts of the gospel is the change that the good news of Jesus ushers into people’s lives. I love witnessing the baptisms of those who proclaim that they now believe! An excellent prayer might be that our church would resemble something more like the changing seasons of the U.S. Midwest rather than the relative seasonal stability of southern California.
Lord, help us anticipate and look forward to the change in your people that comes from believing in the name of Jesus.
Today’s Prayer
Father, may our churches continue to celebrate when people believe in the good news of Jesus. May our baptistries overflow with men and women proclaiming their belief in you. We love you!
